2023 Demystifying Anterior Composite Restorations

Direct restorations in the anterior zone express nowadays the most conservative approach, in order to maintain the vitality and functionality of a tooth in the long-term circle of life. Composite resins can serve as materials, mimicking the natural histo-anatomical model. The presence of a big variety in composite resin systems and in layering techniques tends to lead the clinician through a maze, in order to achieve a repeatable aesthetic outcome.

Proper knowledge of the structure, anatomy and morphology of natural teeth allows the predictable reproduction of the lost dental tissue, even with two-masses layering techniques. Understanding the principles of the optical properties of enamel and dentin, as well as how these structures interact with light, is of utmost importance in reproducing aesthetic composite resin restorations.

During the 2-day seminar, the participants will have the opportunity to be trained and practice in different clinical scenarios of direct restorations with laminar techniques, such as restoration of class IV central incisor and restorations of peg lateral incisors and midline diastema closure of central incisors. Particular emphasis will also be placed on creating their custom shade guide of the composite system to be used during the training.

The aim of the seminar is to offer the clinician specific protocols that will allow him to have the desired result in all direct restorations in the anterior zone.
